Dr. W.J. Lawson, Sr. is an anointed man of God. He is a native of Tifton, Georgia and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Lawson. He is married to the former Patricia A. Ross. Pastor and Mrs. Lawson are the proud parents of three children and grandparents of eight.

After completing his primary and secondary education in the Tift County School System, Pastor Lawson furthered his education at Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville, AL, Birmingham Baptist Bible College, Birmingham, AL, and Luther Rice Seminary in Orlando, FL. He received his Doctor of Divinity from Carolina Christian University, Lexington, NC.

As well as pastoring, his walk with God has led him to be an Evangelist, Lecturer and Teacher. He has served as a Program Developer, Program Implementer, Christian School Administrator and Workshop Facilitator. He is an active member of many Local, State and National organizations. Some of these organizations include the Metropolitan Atlanta Baptist Ministers Union Inc., General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia where he serves as President of the Fifth District, National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc. and National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc.-Congress of Christian Education. His love for God and service to the people of the community has led to his involvement, leadership and membership in local service organizations such as the NAACP, Project Read-Board of Directors, A.B.L.E. Empowerment Zone, “The Study of the Black Male”-Board of Directors, Vine City Housing Ministry, the Adopt-A-Child Ministry and serves as the chaplian for Fulton County Sheriff Department.

Pastor Lawson has pastored Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lincoln, AL, Greater Second Mount Olive Baptist Church, Albany, GA. and Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. He is presently pastoring the Cornerstone Community Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. Under his leadership the church has grown spiritually and numerically.

Pastor Lawson currently serves as President of the Fifth District General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc.
