Visionary, leader, and travel enthusiast are just a few words to describe Pastor Aaron Jones, III. A proud native of Macon, Georgia, he is the son of Pastor Aaron Jones, Jr. and Linda Jones. He is married to the lovely Tamara Hope Jones. To this union God has blessed them with three beautiful children, Taylor Denise, Aaron Jones IV, and Joshua Elijah.
THE MATRICULATION
A 1993 graduate of Charles Lincoln Harper High School, Pastor Jones, III has attended Savannah State College where he majored in Accounting. He currently attends Luther Rice College and Seminary, where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Ministry.
THE MINISTRY
Pastor Jones, III was licensed to preach in August, 1997 and ordained in November, 1998. Since accepting his call to ministry at age 22, Pastor Jones, III has led in many areas of ministry, some of which include: Associate Minister, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, and Praise and Worship Team Leader. Pastor Jones, III formerly served as Senior Pastor of the Old Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Conyers, Georgia, Rehoboth Baptist Church, Conyers, Georgia, and Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Moreland Georgia.
As a Senior Pastor, Pastor Jones, III’s godly and biblical teachings have led to numerous expansion and outreach projections. At Old Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pastor Jones, III founded and organized Summer Challenge Camp, a 10-week day camp that served 50 children, ages five to fifteen. The culminating event of the program was a Back-to-School Book Bag Giveaway. He led Rehoboth Baptist Church in a $75,000 renovation/build out of a 6,000 square feet warehouse with a sanctuary, office space, and classroom areas. While there, he also piloted the “Starting Over” program, which provided spiritual support for individuals who had been incarcerated and in rehabilitation homes. In addition to this program, Pastor Jones, III was featured in the Rockdale Citizen Newspaper for his outreach efforts via Praise in the Park, an annual service that took the church to the community. At Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Jones, III lead the church in paying off a $60,000 loan, which catapulted the church into its debt-free mission.
Although these efforts and many others are great, Pastor Jones, III’s proudest moment occurred in February, 2019, when he was named pastor of the Mount Nebo Baptist Church and Life Center/Mt. Nebo Cathedral South. He is the successor of Reverend Anthony J. McMichael, B. A., M. Div., who faithfully served the congregation for 48 years. Pastor Jones, III is excited about his new assignment and is looking forward to many years of serving God with the Mount Nebo family.
THE MISSION
Pastor Jones, III is a man of vision who desires to help men, women and children walk in the divine destiny that God has designed for their lives. He is a practical and prolific teacher/preacher whose messages are radical, refreshing and very relevant. Pastor Jones, III is committed to preaching and teaching kingdom principles which will cause one to walk in GOD’S best in every area of their lives! He believes that a Great Commitment to the Great Commandment will build a Great Church. His mission in life is to Evangelize the World, Edify the Kingdom, and Equip the Saints.
