Reverend Phillip McSwain, Sr., is a native of Beaumont Mississippi. He is the son of the late Reverend Clarence D. and Girtha Mae McSwain. In 1982, Pastor McSwain married the former Debra A. Walker and they have five children: Sabrina, Phillip Jr., Elijah, Joshua, and Jonathan and seven grandchildren.
 

After accepting God’s call, Pastor McSwain was licensed and ordained under the leadership of Rev. Amos Powell at Good Hope Baptist Church in New Augusta, MS in December 1984. Pastor McSwain’s other pastoral assignments included the following churches: Oak Grove Baptist Church of Brooklyn, Phalti Baptist Church of Bay Springs, Bethlehem Baptist Church of Richton, and Little Providence Baptist Church of Picayune.
 

Pastor McSwain received his formal education in New Augusta, MS. In 1977, he graduated from New Augusta High School. After graduating, he attended Jones Junior College, Ellisville, MS where he received an Associate Degree in Technology and Associate Degree in Arts, in 1981.
 

In 1992, he received a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the Mississippi Baptist Theological Seminary in Hattiesburg, MS. In 2006, he enrolled in the Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA. Were he received his Master of Theology Degree in May 2009.
 

Pastor McSwain community and Civic Involvement, he presently serves as Chairman of the Education Scholarship Committee for the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Association, Chaplain of the North Gulfport Land Trust, 2nd Vice Moderator of the Shiloh District Association, Member of Mount Olive Lodge #83, Board Member of the Evangelical Board National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. Member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Coast Learning Center and Chairman of Social Justice of the Mississippi National Baptist State Convention.
