Pastor John T. Morrison, Jr.
Reverend John Thomas Morrison, Jr. was born January 10,1974 in Nuremberg, Germany. He matriculated through the Cumberland County School System, and continued his education at Fayetteville State University where he will complete his Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice. Upon completion of his Bachelors he plans to pursue his Masters in Divinity at Hood Theological Seminary. Rev. Morrison is an active NAACP member an organization he holds dear to his heart to ensure a society in which all people have equal rights without discrimination based on their race or economic background.
He accepted his call-in ministry March 9,2003. He served as worship leader and later as local preacher at Rock Spring A.M.E. Zion Church for a combined approximate 20-year period. Pastor Morrison was ordained a deacon in the A.M.E. Zion Church in January 2012. In September of 2013 Pastor Morrison was appointed to Clark’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Tar Heel, North Carolina as the supply pastor. In November of that year he was appointed as the Pastor of that church. After successfully pastoring Clarks Chapel for three years, he was appointed to Mt Zion A.M.E. Zion Church in Eastover, North Carolina.
Since his appointment in November 2016, as the Senior Pastor of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church the church body has not only increased in membership but the ministry has spiritually grown; and currently are working to begin the 162-year-old church’s restoration and revitalization project that will facilitate the ministry needs of the flourishing congregation and beloved surrounding communities.
Pastor Morrison has been delivering the preached Word for over thirteen years, and remains focused on ministry, spiritual growth and outreach. Commissioned by God to minister to the church and community, Pastor Morrison has a heart for people and meets no stranger. He finds divine purpose in encouraging people from all walks of life to reach toward higher expectations; knowing that their best lives cannot truly be lived until they come into relationship with the King of Kings. Rev. Morrison lives his life by his favorite scripture, 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Rev. Morrison has been happily married to his best friend the lovely Saabquilla Reneé Morrison for over thirteen years.
